Local CA Women from Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties receive NAFE Women of Excellence Awards at NAFE National Conference, and one NAFE member was presented with The President of the US Call To Service award.
Each year NAFE's panel of judges scrutinizes scores of nominations from all over the U. S. in search of women who exemplify success in five categories, rising star, entrepreneurship, mentoring, professional achievement and community service.
Selection criteria call for not only hard work, courage, and achievement, often in the face of adversity, but also generosity of spirit and passion for helping other women excel.
NAFE's women of Excellence demonstrates not only what is doable -- but also what is worth doing. This year NAFE honored and saluted both the 2006 and the 2007 Women of Excellence for their hard work, proven ability to succeed, dedication to making their world a better place, and passion for sharing their success and insights with other women.
This years NAFE Conference was held in CA, as usually it is held in New York and CA was blessed that of the ten women being honored for 2006 and 2007 three of the women were from CA.
Also a special award the "Presidents Call to Service" Award was presented to a CA NAFE member.
NAFE is the largest business women's network in the US with over 66,000 members all over the US and is headquartered in New York with local affiliated networks all over the U. S.

Heart Awards 2006
The For You Network a 501 C3 Nonprofit network which has 21 networks in the Southern CA area recently held their 4th Annual For You Network Have A Heart Awards Honoring For You Network Members at the Reef Restaurant in Long Beach, CA.
Members and directors nominated individuals for these awards and over 180 awards were received. The judging of these winners was done by an outside judges panel not connected with the network which was the Soroptimist International group from Fallbrook, California. No one was aware of the winners until the luncheon On Sat. February 25th, when the envelopes were open and the awards were presented by the Master of Ceremony Rodney Allen Rippy who was best known as the kid in the (Jack In The Box " commercials in the early 1970's, and who has appeared on many other television shows and movies, and who is now the Hurricane Housing Relief spokesman.
In addition to networking, the women and gentleman present enjoyed songs by Gezelle who is the Sister of San Bernardino member Natasha Flowers and the closing song by Marlene Dove a member of Santa Monica and a former performer at Carnegie Hall in New York and who is know locally for her work as the founder and Director of the Omni Youth Music Awards in New York where she brings together local youth talent who perform and receive awards like a mini Oscar and Emmy program for aspiring youth who many today can be seen on TV and in the Movies.
They also were introduced to the Art of Exotic Dancing as seen on Oprah, Hard Copy and many National TV and news media across the country. The performer leading them was Mara Schwartz who is a stockbroker by day in Santa Monica and teaches women this new technique. After she demonstrated it the women all got up and did the moves which brought laughter and excitement to the room. "Wow, some of these women sure had some great moves". says Gisella Thomas the Chair of the event. Many bought CD's to take home and learn more so they could surprise their husbands and/or significant others.
The event was a beautiful event that totally depicted the mission of For You to empower women to step out of the box both personally and professionally and it all starts with "Showing Up" which is one of NAFE Western & Mid Atlantic Director Robbie Motter's famous sayings. For You is a NAFE affiliate network, NAFE is the largest business women's organization in the US.
The event was chaired by Gisella Thomas a Murrieta, CA resident who was assisted by Margie Cloud from Murrieta, Natasha Flowers from San Bernardino, Shirley Kerr from Riverside, Ethel Lover from Long Beach and Robbie Motter from Sun City, all whom belong to a For You network in their areas.
Not every one that was nominated could be the winner, but those nominated felt that just being nominated by their Directors and/or members was great enough for them. But there were winners who came from all over Southern CA and they were as follows :
