Director in the Spotlight
 In August 2002, at the Leadership Conference in San Diego, while Fannie Green and Gisella Thomas represented For You Network, Oceanside Local Connection, Robbie Motter talked up NAFE. We met Lia Shipman, the Director of Volunteers for the XXXVII Superbowl in San Diego. She was recruiting 14,000 volunteers to assist with the upcoming Superbowl in January 2003.
 
 Lia and Gisella started to talk and Gisella was subsequently assigned as teamleader for the Superbowl. You can't imagine the excitement, although the only thing Gisella knew about football was that in order to win you need touchdowns.
 
 So with the help of e-mails, networking, talking about it and passing the word, we recruited volunteers. Monthly meetings since September 2002 kept the teamleaders informed. Throughout the time (teammeetings) Gisella was able to meet some outstanding women and men from throughout the San Diego County, all who volunteered for this upcoming event.
 
 Many opportunities have come her way because of being involved in this event. Gisella will be on Good Morning America on January 24, (they are filming in San Diego), and she will also work a number of events and will meet many athletes, visitors and people associated with the Superbowl - and she'll have the opportunity to talk about her business. This opportunity would not have been part of her life, would it not have been for the For You Network

Ruby Miller-Lyman, Mayor Judith Valles, and Cherie Arnold.

Nominee for the Innovation Award, Ruby Miller-Lyman, is an Independent Business Associate of EYI - Essentially Yours International. Ruby started her network marketing career at age 18, and now 50 years later, she is recognized as a "Hall of Fame Leader" in the network marketing industry. Ruby's organization exceeds 217,000 distributors.

Nominee and 1st Runner-Up Winner of the Lifetime Leadership Award, Mayor Judith Valles, City of San Bernardino, is named one of the state's outstanding "Female Hispanic Leaders". The city of San Bernardino is a better place because of this dedicated woman and her caring spirit to her community.

Nominee for the Pioneer Award, Cherie Arnold, Publisher of For You Magazine, A Woman's Magazine that is also read by intelligent man, has opened doors for so many women as well as men, to enhance their writing skills, and to be featured for their achievements.
